Meet the committee

Our committee 2017-2018
Courteney Furzer.jpg

President: Courteney Furzer

Courteney is a fourth year medical student who is thoroughly enthusiastic about paediatrics! She has always been interested in paediatrics since her family fostered children her whole life from a range of backgrounds. Courteney is looking forward to taking on a bigger role this year as president, having been the Events Coordinator last year. She is looking forward to continuing and hopefully expanding our popular events, our amazing schemes ; Save a Life and Play volunteering and continuing our huge efforts to fundraise for our amazing charities Charlie House and ARCHIE foundation.

Vice President: Rachael Milne

Rachael has been keenly interested in paediatrics since her first year at medical school. Starting as a Save a Life volunteer in second year, taking the role of secretary last year and finally becoming joint VP this year, she is keen to spread the word about AUPS’ two charities and raise as much money as she can for them. She also hopes to continue teaching CPR through Save a Life classes this year and develop her teaching skills for the future. Also, it's a perfect excuse to let her childish side out!

Vice President: Kirsty McCrorie

Medically blonde Kirsty our co-vice President, was as sassy as her outfits growing up. Always dancing and singing both on and off stage and eventually decided to trade shows at the theatre to perusing a career in medicine. Her home in Glasgow is a little far from Aberdeen but she’s now used to the seagulls and the cold and looks forward to helping the first years settle in whilst making the most of her third year on the committee. Having worked at a children's summer camp in America, a career in paediatrics is something she would love to achieve. Kirsty is now in fourth year and is very focused on continuing on fundraising efforts as well as hopefully planning a future undergraduate conference to be held in Aberdeen next year!

Secretary/Social Media: Brendan Law

This is my second year with the Paediatric Society having been the Save a Life with AUPS supervisor last year. The work we did last year was amazing as we managed to raise so much awareness and funds for our charities while being incredibly active and conducting plenty of events for our members. I hope to play my part in ensuring AUPS continues to be one of the best societies at the university.

Treasurer: Nick Farr

Hi my names Nick, a postgrad from London. I was elected as Treasurer. I’m looking forward to a year of great activities and raising lots of money for our chosen Charities! I’m always around Suttie so stop me if you want any information on how to get involved.

Events Co-ordinator: Zain Aslam

Hi, my names Zain and I am just starting my 3rd year at Aberdeen. I was always interested in Paediatrics as a career as I love working with children, but this interest was fostered further once I learnt just how varied the role of a Paediatrician can be. I joined the society this year with the hope that I can help others also see just how great a specialty paediatrics can be. I was also drawn to the societies charitable work, such as running events in support of The ARCHIE Foundation and Charlie House, which I can't wait to be a part of this year. Hope to see you all at our events!

Ordinary Member: Jeremie Juan

Entering my 4th year here at Aberdeen and my 4th year being involved with AUPS, I cannot wait for the year ahead; which I am sure will be full of exciting events, fantastic fundraising and incredibly tasty bake-sales to say the least! I became involved with AUPS in first year as I’ve always loved working with kids and their incredible positivity. Plus, this society seemed like the perfect excuse for me to let out my childish side! For the past couple of years I’ve been involved as a community instructor and co-lead for our Save a Life Project which has been so much fun to be a part of – especially getting to see so many amazing new volunteers coming through! As ordinary member this year I’m really looking forward to helping out and getting involved everywhere and anywhere that I can with the magical things going in AUPS.

Play volunteering co-ordinator: Rohaini Baiduri

Hi, my name is Rohini Bhaduri and I’ve always been interested in paediatrics and working with children. I was a play volunteer last year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I am excited to be the play volunteer coordinator this year with wider responsibilities and more fun. Looking forward to working with you all.

I hope to be able to continue the success of this project. I enjoy lazing around, watching dramas, and eating lots and lots of good food. I look forward to taking part in and planning future events and activities paediatrics will be organising. Thank you:)

Save a Life with AUPS Lead: Rebekah Loy

Hi, I’m Rebekah and I’ve just started my third year at Aberdeen. I’ve had a keen interest in paediatrics since before I started studying and the opportunities I’ve had with the paediatrics society have only heightened my interests! I’m really excited to be one of the Save a Life leads and can’t wait to organise some amazing workshops with Livia! It’s super easy yet really rewarding to become an instructor to help at workshops so it’ll be great to see lots of new faces joining us this year!
