About us

Interested in paediatrics and child health?  AUPS is the society for you!

The Aberdeen University Paediatric Society is based at the Suttie Centre at Foresterhill. Our purpose is to:

  • To promote paediatrics and child health to medical and physician associate (PA) students within the University of Aberdeen.

  • To improve understanding of career pathways within paediatrics and child health.

  • To provide additional learning opportunities including events and talks to enhance students’ knowledge and broaden their experience in paediatrics.

  • To fundraise for nominated local children's charities (The ARCHIE Foundation and Charlie House)

As a society we are extremely lucky to be located on the same site as the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital (RACH) in Foresterhill. Built in 2004, this modern facility provides acute and community child health care throughout the Grampian area. However, the hospital also provides care to more rural communities in the Highlands, Tayside, Orkney and Shetland. Since RACH receives such a large volume of patients we believe our proximity to the hospital, and our ability to liase with the health care professionals who work there provides an invaluable learning opportunity for those hoping to pursue a career in paediatrics.
